Life as a Medical Student in Yerevan, Armenia

Yerevan is among the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. In its 2800 years of history, the city has been part of numerous local empires, including a couple of Persian Empires, the Romans, the Umayyad Caliphate, several Turkic Empires, and the Russian Empire. In addition, Yerevan was a proud member of several independent Armenian kingdoms.

These rulers have left a mark on Armenian architecture, and Yerevan is not an exception with its unique looks and atmosphere. The local style is very characteristic, with distinct square shapes and heavy stone-built structures.

Today, many landmarks provide an eclectic picture of Yerevan’s rich history. The local museums also boast rich collections of various periods, and aspiring doctors love to take these tours through distant times.

However, all the city's history can’t dim the shine of modern life. Yerevan has an exciting music scene with appealing folk motifs in various popular styles. The local Opera House is also quite popular among the more conservative music lovers.
