Sumy State University (SSU) was established in 1948 in the city of Sumy. The university is a second home to over 12,000 students in 23 fields of education. It is included in Global Research University Profiles (GRUP) and is one of the top Ukrainian universities. The university provides housing for international students in 3 hostels. Green areas and lakes surround the buildings, creating a perfect place for your leisure time. There are also dining areas like halls, cafeterias, and buffets, where you can taste delicious dishes at low prices.
Around the buildings, you can find sports activities areas, computer labs, libraries, and gyms. The rooms are shared between 2 or 3 students with a private bathroom. The administration constantly checks how the students treat their living spaces and award them for the cleanest rooms.
Living in Sumy can be a great student experience at a low cost. Applicants who prefer private accommodation can rent a 1-bedroom apartment for only around €140 per month. Utilities, transportation, food, and other personal expenses will cost you no more than €300 monthly.
The academic year is divided into two terms - winter and summer. Each term ends with a 2-week exam period and a holiday break.
The winter semester begins in early September and finishes at the end of December.
The summer term starts at the end of January and continues until the last day of May.
