About Sapienza University of Rome
The Sapienza University of Rome is one of the oldest and largest medical schools in Italy and Europe, established at the beginning of the 14th century. It is located in Rome and is a public higher educational institution. Nowadays, the university has 11 faculties with more than 100,000 students, one of which is the medical faculty that teaches medicine in English to international students.
This university is famous because it educated many notable alumni like Nobel laureates, presidents, astronauts, and even the present prime minister of Italy. The founder of the Montessori method of education - Maria Montessori, used to be a student here.
Courses Offered at Sapienza University of Rome
At this moment, the university offers only a Doctor of Medicine programme in English. The duration of the course is 6 years, which includes practical and theoretical subjects. The university’s main goal is to educate future doctors ready to start practising right after graduation.

Applying for a 6-year medical course will require you to have an English proficiency certificate as well as high grades in your leaving school certificate.
Similar to the other Italian medical schools, this university also utilises the IMAT examination for assessment. Your ranking will depend on your IMAT score and your high school diploma grades.
The IMAT is an exam comprising 60 questions covering logical thinking and scientific subjects. Most Italian medical universities employ it for ranking purposes, and it can be taken in various countries globally. The exam lasts for 100 minutes and includes 60 multiple-choice questions.

Accommodation
The medical school currently operates with several student housings. Some of them are near the university, and others are close to subway stops that can quickly take you there. The rooms are single, double, and triple. They are all well-equipped with everything needed for a student to live in perfect conditions with private bathrooms.
The buildings have study rooms and libraries as well as leisure time rooms and utilities like gyms, music halls, PC stations, and restaurants. Most of the dorms have common kitchens, but there are still some that offer private kitchenettes in the rooms.
