Life as a Medical Student in Prague, Czech Republic

According to the legend, Princess Libussa had the gift of prophecy, and she saw a great city found in a special place. Her councillors followed her instructions and sought a man who made the best use of his teeth during midday. The man in question was cutting wood with the teeth of his saw, and he was making a threshold. Thus, Libussa named the new city Praha, which means “threshold” in Czech.

The legendary princess was not wrong since Prague turned out to be a great city indeed. They also call it the City of a Hundred Spires, which is an understatement - there are currently over 500 spires. Nevertheless, the Prague skyline looks like a fairy tale to be told.

The city hosts hundreds of concert halls, galleries, cinemas, music clubs, and historical landmarks. Thus, international students have endless opportunities for cultural events, social get-togethers, and casual strolls.

Prague Castle is a mandatory stop with its palaces, churches, and gardens complex. Charles Bridge is another spectacular landmark built 7 centuries ago. It is an excellent start (or finish) for a walk to the Old Town Square, where the Prague Astronomical Clock has ticked for centuries.
